bus fleet management services

Distracted driving can happen at any time for bus drivers or other drivers on the road. It only takes one distraction to result in a bus collision where people are seriously injured. When a bus crash happens, what will you do? Do you have enough room in your budget to properly restore your  bus? These are questions you have to ask yourself. Having a reliable automotive technician handle your bus collision repairs is important to the health condition of your school bus fleet.

According to the National Safety Council, there are nearly 310,000 school buses on the road every year. On average these school buses travel 2,500,000 miles every year. It’s important for you to train your bus drivers about fleet safety prior to going behind the wheel.

Bus collisions primarily occur from rear ending or sideswiping. Although these accidents may seem like minor accidents, they can be life threatening when a high-speed vehicle collides with a bus. Reckless drivers put bus drivers in dangerous circumstances where they must unsafely maneuver  to prevent deadly crashes.

Having good bus drivers and excellent bus fleet management services can prevent school bus accidents.

Here at Middleton & Meads we offer complete in-house bus collision repairs for all makes and models of buses (as well as trucks and trailers). In fact, Middleton & Meads is a Dupont certified shop.

School has started but some changes may happen in Maryland after this school year.

The Bureau of Revenue Estimates has released information that states can reap economic benefits from public school starting after Labor Day.

How can an after Labor Day school start bring in more economic benefits for states like Maryland?

It all comes down to two things: Tourism and recreational activities by families.

If Maryland public schools start after Labor Day, the state can receive roughly $74.3 million a year from tourism and family recreational activities.

From that figure, there will be $3.7 million in new wages and $7.7 million for state and local revenues related to the following vacation destinations:

  • Ocean City
  • Deep Creek lake
  • Historic Annapolis
  • Baltimore’s Inner Harbor

Tourism is the 4th most profitable industry in Maryland.

Currently the Maryland Chamber is working on policies that will assist tourism in Maryland to grow.

The SB 963/HB 1502 – Task Force is doing a Post-Labor Day Start date sturdy for Maryland Public schools.

Back To School: The Benefits of Bus Repairs

Wednesday, August 28th, 2013

bus collision repairs

It’s back to school. And you know what that means. It means more traffic and more accidents.

On the list of the safest driving cities in America/ the cities with the best drivers, Baltimore and Washington D.C. where ranked as two of the worst city commutes in the United States.

In Washington D.C. the average driver gets into an accident every 4.8 years. In fact, Washington Drivers are twice as likely than any other drivers in the USA to get into traffic accidents. The statistics are provided by Allstate’s America’s Best Drivers report. Although the report doesn’t identify the cause behind the frequent traffic accidents, people suspect it is based on the number of residents in the area using motor vehicles as their number one means of transportation in a fast-paced urban setting.

Baltimore City did not rank too far behind that average of motor vehicle wrecks. Every 5.4 years Baltimore drivers have motor vehicle accident.

The USA overall is increasing in deadly motor vehicle accidents. In the USA motor vehicle crash fatalities are over 1,700 between 2011-2012.

What can you learn from this Best Drivers report?

The answer: Drivers in large urban cities are more likely to crash than drivers in small towns.

If you have a school bus fleet, it’s important that your school bus fleet has good bus repairs completed to ensure the safety of students and bus drivers alike.

Back to School: The importance of Bus Fleet Repairs

Saturday, August 10th, 2013

bus fleet repairs

The back to school season is quickly approaching. It’s time to have your bus fleet inspected and have bus repairs completed to ensure the safety of students and school bus drivers alike.

Here at Middleton & Meads, our mechanics are well trained to perform bus repairs for all makes and models. Best of all we perform bus repairs at an affordable price.

In the United States of America there are roughly 450,000 school buses on the road every school year. The school transportation industry spends more than $15 billion dollars a year on bus maintenance.

It’s important that buses are up to date on bus repairs because bus fleets transport more than 25,000,000 million children to and from school. More than 50 percent of students K-12 are school bus transportation passengers.

What are the top concerns for school bus transportation safety?

  1. A good school bus paint job. Yes, a paint job is important because school bus fleets should have uniform look to help children recognize them nationwide. Yellow is a color students and parents alike can recognize in any bad weather condition, including fog. If your bus fleet has a good paint job, you will help improve the safety of students no matter the geographic location.

  2. High quality seat belts. The average school bus can safely transport two high school age students or three young children per bus seat unit. No children should seat in the bus aisle or sit partially in a seat. Our mechanics can repair any inadequate seat-belts for your bus fleet.

Bottom line: Middleton & Meads is here to reduce school bus injuries and keep your fleet safe on the road.

When children cross the street to board your school buses, you want to assure parents that your drivers can abruptly brake during any emergency. We can assure you this with our exceptional mechanical repairs.

Middleton  & Meads is dedicated to providing you high quality bus fleet solutions to meet your transportation needs. Our mechanics will:
