- Never attempt a trip without planning first. Map out two or three routes to prevent becoming lost. Choose the most efficient routes and check traffic reports to avoid congestion. Always check weather reports as well to prevent problems.
- Never use electronic devices during your travels. All phone calls should be made prior to entering the road, and calls in between travel should always be made at rest stations.
- Avoid eating and drinking while traveling. Spills can cause drivers to take their attention from the road, which could then lead to serious accidents.
- Never get behind the wheel of a vehicle if under the influence of any alcohol, drugs, or other medications.
- Never get behind the wheel of a vehicle if you have failed to sleep enough the night before. Fatigued drivers is one of the leading causes of truck accidents.
- Never practice aggressive driving such as speeding, tailgating, and swerving.
